Living in Layers

Updated: Jun 25, 2019

By centering the female figure at the core of the artwork, I celebrate and recognize the numerous and incredible achievements of women. I also celebrate my African heritage and my love for pattern and mark making.

To me, guinea fowl, are the perfect pairing with a strong woman.

Guinea fowl are birds endemic to Africa. Like mothers, they are quintessentially homebodies, live in family groups and pair up for life. They are one of the quirkiest birds around and have a unique sense of style. They also aren’t afraid to make a bit of noise.

Thank you Nokwanda Malumbete for being my Muse!
